Field demonstration of performance benefits of hydrotreated paraffinic (group II) refrigeration oils in ammonia systems.

Author(s) : DOLSON M. G.

Summary

The paper deals with Group II lubricating oils, or hydrotreated paraffinic mineral oils, and intends to demonstrate the benefits of using this kind of oil in ammonia compressors. These benefits are: good lubrication ability; good thermal stability; reduced oil carry over; better performance of the heat exchangers, due to reduced oil carry over. Four case studies are presented.
