FILTER EFFICIENCY DURING DUST LOADING.

Author(s) : PETERSON F.

Summary

UNDER NON-STATIONARY CONDITIONS FILTER EFFICIENCY IS INCREASED. THIS IS DUE TO THE FACT THAT PARTICLES ARE NOT ONLY DEPOSITED ON FIBRES BUT ALSO ON ALREADY DEPOSITED PARTICLES. WHILE A THEORETICAL PREDICTION OF THE CHANGE IN EFFICIENCY IS RELATIVELY DIFFICULT, A SEMI-THEORETICAL MODEL HAS BEEN FOUND RELATIVELY REASONABLE TO USE. THE MODEL GIVES GOOD AGREEMENT BETWEEN CALCULATED AND MEASURED VALUES FOR A VARIETY OF INVESTIGATED FILTERS. IT ALLOWS THE EFFICIENCY AND THUS THE LIFE-TIME OF A FILTER TO BE PREDICTED IN VARIOUS WORKING ENVIRONMENTS.
