Summary

THE OBJECTIVE OF THIS ARTICLE IS TO SHOW THAT FLOOR RADIANT PANELS, CIRCULATED WITH WATER, CAN CONSTITUTE AN INTERESTING ALTERNATIVE TO THE USE OF AIR CONDITIONING TERMINAL UNITS DURING SUMMER. TESTS WERE CARRIED OUT FOR EVALUATING THE THERMAL BEHAVIOUR, IN AN UNSTEADY STATE, OF VARIOUS BUILDING SYSTEMSWITH OR WITHOUT RADIANT PANELS. THE BEHAVIOUR CHARACTERISTICS OF THE PANELS WERE STUDIED, AND A COMPARISON WAS MADE, FOR SOME SIGNIFICANT CASES, BETWEEN THE LEVELS OF COMFORT, THE ENERGY CONSUMPTIONS AND THE CAPACITY INVOLVED. A SIMPLE CORRELATION IS PROPOSED, MAKING IT POSSIBLE TO SIZE THE FLOOR RADIANT PANEL FOR AIR CONDITIONING IN THE SUMMER MONTHS.
