Summary

THE PAPER DEALS WITH SOME PHENOMENA OF FLOW BOILING OF REFRIGERANT-OIL MIXTURES. THE LIQUID PHASE SEPARATES DURING THE BOILING INTO 2 PHASES. EACH LIQUID PHASE IS A MIXTURE, ONE IS OIL-RICH AND THE OTHER REFRIGERANT-RICH. BECAUSE THE BOILING TEMPERATURE OF THE REFRIGERANT-RICH MIXTURE IS LOWER THAN THAT OF THE OIL-RICH MIXTURE, ONLY THE REFRIGERANT-RICH MIXTURE EVAPORATES. THE MASS FLOW OF THIS MIXTURE DECREASES ALONG THE TUBE WHEREAS AT THE SAME TIME THE FLOW RATE OF OIL-RICH MIXTURE INCREASES. WHEN THE REFRIGERANT-RICH MIXTURE IS COMPLETELY EVAPORATED, THE MASS FLOW OF THE OIL-RICH MIXTURE REACHES A MAXIMUM, AND THIS MIXTURE MAY THEN START TO EVAPORATE.
