Summary

Two-phase flow pressure drop during evaporation process of R-22, R-134a and CO2 were studied in horizontal minichannels of 1.5 and 3.0 mm inside diameters with heated length of 2 m. Experiments were performed at mass flux ranges from 200 to 600 kg/m2.s, heat flux from 10 to 40 kW/m2, and the inlet saturation temperature of 10°C. The experimental results were drawn on the Wang et al. (1997) and the Wojtan et al. (2005) flow pattern maps; the flow patterns of the study appear earlier compared with both maps. The experimental results are compared with six existing two-phase pressure drop prediction methods.
