Forced convection heat transfer of He I at a supercritical pressure.

Author(s) : NISHIDA J., SHIOTSU M., OKAMURA T., et al.

Summary

Forced convection heat transfer from three test plates of 20, 40 and 80 mm in lengths and all 5 mm in width was measured for inlet temperatures from 2.2 to 6.5 K and flow velocities from 0.1 to 5.2 m/s under a supercritical pressure of 2.8 atm. Effects of inlet temperature and test heater length were clearly observed. Obtained Nusselt numbers showed clear difference in the trend of dependence on Reynolds number (Re) at around Re of 105. Lower Re is laminar flow region, and higher is turbulent flow region. Non-dimensional equations for these regions were presented.
