Summary
This article presents the main directions of scientific activity of the Department of air conditioning at University ITMO during its existence. Socioeconomic changes that have taken place in Russia in the 90ies and the emergence of new imported air conditioning systems have resulted in the need to move from Research work aimed at improving the thermal processes in the climatic equipment to works oriented to optimize the design of engineering systems in General. Invited assesses options for draft decisions on the results of the multifactor solution of optimization task, which the objective function includes complex technoeconomic and hygienic, architectural and others requirements and limitations. It has been shown that the main instrument to meet the defined objectives is computer modeling methods of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) vector and scalar fields.
