Summary

Extensive details are given of a new 64-meter freezer stern trawler built in Germany which is rigged for bottom and mid water trawling for Alaskan pollock, cod and salmon. The on-board processing plant produces frozen roe, fillets, minced fish and fishmeal. The refrigerated fish hold capacity is 903 m3 with 255 m3 for frozen fish meal at -15 deg C. The freezer hold is maintained at -30 deg C and 4 horizontal plate freezers have a capacity of 48 tons/23 hours. The fishmeal plant is designed for single handed operation. G.R.S.
