Summary
THE AUTHORS HAVE STUDIED THE THERMAL AND PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF FROST FORMATION ON A COOLING SURFACE, FROM THE FORCES PRODUCING FREEZING TO THE EVALUATION OF DENSITY, THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY, AND HEAT TRANSFER. THE CONCLUSIONS ARE VARIED AND IT IS OBVIOUS THAT FURTHER WORK IS NEEDED. HOWEVER, THE PAPER GIVES A FULL UNDERSTANDING OF THE REASONS FOR AND TYPES OF ICE CRYSTAL GROWTH AND PUBLISHES EMPIRICAL CORRELATIONS FOR THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY RELATIVE TO DENST. THERE DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE ANY WAY FOR EVALUATING DENSITY FOR SPECIFIC CASES. D.W.H.
