THIS STUDY SURVEYS SOLUTIONS PROPOSING FROST-FREE EVAPORATORS AND REPORTS CURRENT DIFFICULTIES IN USING PRESENT DAY FROST REMOVAL METHODS. IT ALSO SHOWS THE DIFFICULTY OF ESTIMATING BOTH ENERGETIC AND ECONOMIC GAINS THAT THESE METHODS CAN PROVIDE. IT INCLUDES TWO CHAPTERS: 1. ESTIMATION OF POSSIBLE GAINS IN FROST REMOVAL DURING THE CYCLE ; 2. FROST REMOVAL METHODS ; SPRINKLING, PREHEATING OF AIR, BLOWING AWAY FROST, BRUSHING OR SCRAPING OF EVAPORATORS.
