IN SPITE OF THE GROWTH IN CHILLED FOOD CONSUMPTION A MARKED INCREASE IN FROZEN FOOD CONSUMPTION IS FORECAST BY 1990 WHICH LARGELY CONSISTS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES OR VEGETABLE BASED PRODUCTS. THE UK LEADS THE CONSUMER TABLE BUT GROWTH IS MORE RAPID IN FRANCE, PARTICULARLY IN HIGH QUALITY READY FROZEN MEALS. THESE ARE PREDICTED TO HAVE THE LARGEST GROWTH, ALTHOUGH VEGETABLES, FISH AND POTATO PRODUCTS ARE GROWTH SECTORS IN INDIVIDUAL COUNTRIES. G.R.S.
