Fuel cell technology: the scope for building services applications.
Author(s) : BSRIA, DTI, GALLIERS S.
Type of monograph: Book
Summary
Fuel cells have the potential to achieve high levels of energy efficiency, with lower emissions of greenhouse gases compared with more conventional systems. This BSRIA guidance provides a review of the technology relating to fuel cells and their potential use in building services applications. It includes information relating to: fuel cell technology; benefits to building services (environmental and energy issues; adaptability); applications for building services (supply of electrical and thermal power; practical application; site considerations; ownership and cost issues); operation and maintenance; health and safety issues (temperatures and pressures; hydrogen; other issues); codes and standards; potential developments. It also provides six case studies demonstrating the application and evaluation of fuel cells as well as a list of manufacturers of fuel cells.
