Summary

In this research, a new method named "index for thermal environment: ITE" is proposed for evaluating the thermal sensation of humans in sedentary posture at steady state. The authors established a relation between heat loss via respiration, mean skin temperature and skin moistness. They also established a relation between thermal sensation, mean skin temperature and skin moistness. The calculated values for ITE agreed well with the experimental results for a wide range of temperatures. The validity of ITE was confirmed under the various environmental conditions applied.
