FUNDAMENTALS OF FREEZE-DRYING PHARMACEUTICALS.

Author(s) : DELUCA P. P.

Summary

INITIAL FREEZING IS OF CRITICAL IMPORTANCE SINCE IT WILL INFLUENCE SUBLIMATION. SUITABLE COOLING CYCLES PROVIDE A CORRECT STRUCTURE. IF THE FROZEN SYSTEM EXHIBITS A METASTABLE EQUILIBRIUM OF GLASSY STRUCTURES, APPROPRIATE THERMAL TREATMENTS WILL BE NECESSARY FOR PRODUCING THE CRYSTALLIZATION OF THE METASTABLE MATERIAL AND AN ADEQUATE CRYSTAL SIZE WILL BE NECESSARY FOR EFFICIENT SUBLIMATION.
