LOADING, A CRITICAL STEP IN FREEZE-DRYING OF SENSITIVE PHARMACEUTICALS.

Author(s) : WILLEMER H.

Summary

THE VALIDATION OF THE FREEZE-DRYING PROCESS BECOMES A MAJOR CHALLENGE TO MANUFACTURERS OF PHARMACEUTICALS AND RELATED EQUIPMENTS. A SPECIAL ATTENTION HAS BEEN GIVEN TO CRITICAL TEMPERATURES DURING THE FREEZE-DRYING PROCESS AND TO THEIR MEASUREMENT. IT IS SHOWN THAT THE LOADING AND CHARGE PREPARATION SCHEDULE IS CRITICAL TO ASSURE THE REPRODUCIBILITY OF THE PROCESS. IT HAS BEEN UNDERSTOOD THAT WITH THE INCREASING VALUE OF EACH CHARGE AND NARROW CRITICAL TEMPERATURE RANGES, THE LOADING PROCEDURE BECOMES AN IMPORTANT AND TECHNICALLY DIFFICULT PART OF THE WHOLE INTEGRATED PRODUCTION PROCESS.
