States that gas engine-driven chiller heaters with a nominal duty of 70 kilowatts chilling and 90 kilowatts heating have been produced, offering an energy-efficient and low running cost means of air conditioning and heating for many commercial buildings. Describes the design and development of two types of unit, one for external rooftop mounting and the other mainly for centralised plantroom operation. States a programme to install a number of units for field trials has been initiated prior to commercialisation of the gas engine chiller heater development.
