Glycol proves the solution at Marks and Spencer store.
Type of article: Article
Summary
Some years ago a UK installer fitted a secondary refrigerant, glycol system in a supermarket in Hastings. Performance proved successful. The same installer has now fitted a larger system in the same client's Margate store. The primary unit was a glycol chiller running on R404A. Defrosting used glycol heated by exchange with the refrigerant liquid line. The cold glycol temperature has since been raised from -10 to -7 deg C giving less compressor running time and fewer defrosts. The same installer is now researching a suitable secondary fluid for lower temperatures. D.W.H.
