Great progress in magnetic regenerator material and 4 K-Gifford-McMahon cryocooler.

Author(s) : LI R.

Summary

In the last ten years, one of the most remarkable progress in cryogenic engineering is the advent of 4 K G-M cryocooler in which magnetic regenerator materials are applied. The cryocooler is developed from conventional G-M cryocooler with great advances in magnetic regenerator materials and a number of improvements in the other components. 4 K G-M cryocooler is commercially available now. The paper introduces the background and the development of these cryocoolers, reviews progress in the field of 4 K G-M cryocoolers, and presents different applications.
