Heat exchange: efficiency on a plate.

Author(s) : SLOPER P., HALL A.

Type of article: Article

Summary

The authors describe embossed plate heat exchangers in which stacks of alternately arranged plates are furnace brazed to form two fluid paths for heat exchange. The plates are usually of stainless steel and copper is used as the brazing metal. In refrigeration they can be used for water or similar fluid cooling evaporators, water cooled condensers, desuperheaters and liquid subcoolers. Selection is normally by the supplier's computer program and is determined using the thermal length of the exchanger. The significance of this, together with some general selection parameters, is explained in the text. D.W.H.
