Summary

THIS PAPER DEALS WITH THE TYPICAL PROCESS CONDITIONS OF OPERATION OF SUCH HEAT EXCHANGERS, NEEDED IN MANY LINDE TVT PLANTS, AND WITH THE RESULTING REQUIREMENTS FOR THE APPARATUS THE USUAL TYPES OF APPARATUS HITHERTO USED AT LINDE TVT FOR SUCH PURPOSES ARE DESCRIBED (STEAM HEATED, INTERMEDIATE MEDIUM APPARATUS, AIR HEATED APPARATUS, DIRECTLY STEAM-HEATED APPARATUS WITHOUT WATER BATH, DOUBLE BUNDLE APPARATUS) AND THEIR MAIN DEFECTS ARE OUTLINED. A NEW TYPE OF APPARATUS HAS BEEN DEVELOPED, WHICH EXHIBITS NONE OF THE KNOWN DISADVANTAGES AND OFFERS A RELIABLE SOLUTION TO THE VARIOUS PROBLEMS IN CONNECTION WITH A LARGE RANGE OF POSSIBLE USES. THE HEATING SURFACES INSTALLED HAVE APPROXIMATELY 220 M2 FOR AN EVAPORATION CAPACITY OF 20,000 N M3/H WITH NITROGEN AS THE EVAPORATING MEDIUM. A LARGE NUMBER OF THESE TYPES OF EVAPORATORS HAVE ALREADY BEEN PRODUCED AND HAVE YIELDED GOOD RESULTS. J. V.
