EXPERIMENTAL APPARATUS FOR DETERMINING HEAT OF MIXING HAS B MADE. THEHEATS OF MIXING FOR R22 AND 5 ABSORBENTS (DIMETHYL ACETAMIDE, CYCLOHEXANONE, DIETHYLENE GLYCOL, ANILINE AND XYLENE) HAVE BEEN DETERMINED AT 273 K (0 DEG C). THE OBSERVED DATA FOR R22-DIMETHYL ACETAMIDE ARE COMPARED WITH DATA REPORTED BY CHRISTENSEN ET AL. THE ERROR IS FOUND TO BE OF THE ORDER OF 1%. THE OBSERVED DATA ARE ALSO COMPARED WITH THE BHADURI-VARMA AND ABBOTT-VAN NESS METHODS. RESULTS FROM BOTH METHODS COMPARE WELL WITH THE EXPERIMENTAL DATA.
