Heat pump with a turbine-compressor unit.

Author(s) : BARENBOIM A.

Summary

Heat pumps are usually supplied with compressors driven by electric motors. The plant efficiency can be increased by replacing the motor with a turbine included in the power circuit and operating on the same substance as the compressor does. In such a plant the direct cycle of the heat engine is directly combined with the reverse cycle of the heat pump.
