Summary

HEAT PUMPS ARE SUGGESTED FOR HEATING TANKS CONTAINING LIQUIDS WITH A FREEZING POINT ABOVE THE AMBIENT TEMPERATURE. FROM METEOROLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS VALID FOR HAMBURG AND THE CALCULATED HEAT LOSSES OF A MODEL TANK FOR HEAVY OIL, AN AIR-BRINE HEAT PUMP PLANT DRIVEN BY AN ELECTRIC MOTOR OR A DIESEL ENGINE WAS DESIGNED. TECHNICAL DATA FOR BOTH TYPES OF HEAT PUMP AND COP ARE GIVEN. THE MEANS FOR IMPROVING THE USE OF CAPACITY AND COP IS DISCUSSED. R.R.
