Summary

NOTES THE ATTRACTION OF OPERATING HEAT PUMPS ON THE RETURN LINES OF DISTRICT HEAT NETWORKS, SINCE TWO ENERGY SAVING TECHNOLOGIES CAN BE OPERATED SIMULTANEOUSLY. GIVES THE RESULTS OF AN ANALYSIS PERFORMED AS PART OF A THESIS INTO WHETHER HEAT PUMPS USED IN THIS WAY PERMIT OPTIMUM TEMPERATURE DIFFERENCE IN A DISTRICT HEATING NETWORK TO IMPROVE THE NETWORK'S ENERGY CONSUMPTION AND ECONOMICS. THE RESULTS DEMONSTRATE THAT HEAT PUMPS MOSTLY INCREASE THE ENERGY CONSUMPTION OF A NETWORK AND ENTAIL HIGHER INVESTMENT COSTS. (INT. BUILD. SERV. ABSTR., GB., 18, N.6, 1983, 8, 83-01819.
