IN NH3 REFRIGERATION SYSTEMS THE MECHANICAL ACTION OF THE COMPRESSOR RAISES THE TEMPERATURE OF THE NH3 TO ABOUT 343-373 K (70-100 DEG C), WELL ABOVE THE CONDENSATION TEMPERATURE OF 298 K (25 DEG C). THE EXCESS HEAT FOR SUPERHEATING THEN HAS TO BE REMOVED IN THE CONDENSER. POSSIBILITIES OF UTILIZING THIS EXCESS HEAT BY MEANS OF A HEAT RECOVERY UNIT ARE DISCUSSED ON THE BASIS OF THE LITERATURE AND INITIAL EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS AT THE ORANIENBURG DAIRY RESEARCH INSTITUTE.
