HEAT PUMPS IN THE SWEDISH DAIRY INDUSTRY.
Author(s) : HOLMSTROM P.
Type of article: Article
Summary
THE CONDITIONS FOR HEAT PUMPS ARE SPECIALLY FAVOURABLE IN THE SWEDISH AND NORWEGIAN DAIRY INDUSTRY DUE TO THE FAVOURABLE PRICE RATIO BETWEEN ELECTRICITY AND FUEL OIL. IN FINLAND AND IN DENMARK THIS RATIO IS NOT SO ADVANTAGEOUS. IT IS POSSIBLE TO USE THE CONDENSER WATER AT 303 K (30 DEG C) FROM AMMONIA PLANTS FOR AIR CONDITIONING PURPOSES. FOR PROCESS PURPOSES A WATER TEMPERATURE OF 353 K (80 DEG C) MUST BE REACHED. THIS CAN BE ACHIEVED WITH R114 IF CONDENSING PRESSURES BECOME TOO HIGH WITH R12. COP VALUES BETWEEN 3 AND 4 ARE POSSIBLE DEPENDING ON WHICH WASTE HEAT SOURCE IS USED.
