PRESENTS AN ANALYSIS OF THE HEAT TRANSFER AND PRESSURE DROP OF THE FLOW IN CONVERGENT AND DIVERGENT DUCTS OF RECTANGULAR CROSS-SECTION. USES THE THREE-DIMENSIONAL MODEL SUGGESTED PATANKAR AND SPALDING (1972). THE PRESSURE TERM IN THE MOMENTUM EQUATION FOR DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS IS DECOUPLED INTO AN AVERAGE PRESSURE AND A PRESSURE DISTRIBUTION. PRESENTS NUMERICAL VALUES OF THE NUSSELT NUMBERS AND THE LOCAL PRESSURE DROPS ALONG CONVERGENT AND DIVERGENT DUCTS.
