Heat transfer during evaporation of water-ammonia mixture from capillary-porous surfaces.

Author(s) : SOLOVEV S. L.

Summary

Detailed investigation of heat transfer processes taking place during liquid evaporation in a thin-film area in meniscus allowed the author to suggest a method for calculating heat transfer during evaporation of water-ammonia mixtures from capillary porous surfaces. Calculations were performed for weak aqueous solutions of ammonia. The resultant expressions describe variations in water concentration, saturation temperature and evaporation rate over the meniscus height. The results obtained may be used in creating models of boiling on porous surfaces and may also prove useful for improvement of absorption refrigerating plants.
