Type of article: Article

Summary

PRESSURE DROP, INTEGRAL AND LOCAL HEAT TRANSFER FROM SMOOTH AND ROUGH STAGGERED HEAT EXCHANGERS ARE MEASURED. THE REYNOLDS NUMBERS VARY FROM 50,000 TO 7 MILLIONS. PRESSURIZED AIR AT A PRESSURE OF UP TO 4,000 KILOPASCALS IS USED AS COOLANT. THE LOCAL HEAT TRANSFER RESULTS AREEVALUATED TO DETERMINE THE LOCATIONS OF BOUNDARY LAYER SEPARATION AND TRANSITION TO TURBULENCE. FURTHERMORE, THE ENTRANCE EFFECT ON HEAT TRANSFER IS CONSIDERED.
