Summary

A device was constructed to establish turbulent flow of air in a constant wall-temperature copper tube. The flow was fully developed hydrodynamically but developing thermally. Data on flow rate and fluid temperatures were obtained and reduced to an expression for Nusselt number as a function of Reynolds and Prandtl numbers. An existing equation for developing flow was tested in order to determine how well it fitted the data.
