Summary

This book contains the proceedings of the Eurotherm 30 Seminar which was held on October 1992, in Orsay, France, and co-sponsored by the IIR. Fifty nine papers were presented on the 4 following themes: 1. Segregation, interfaces, microstructures, fluid mechanics; 2. Solid-liquid phase-change processes ; 3. Numerical modelisation ; 4. Experimental approaches, processus, applications. We mention the following papers: analysis of the influence of thermal and hydrodynamic phenomena on dissolution kinetics ; theoretical and experimental studies of the thermal behaviour of a new material for low level heat storage ; melting process driven by thermal convection: a local correlation ; a numerical method for the design of 1-D solidification processes ; study of mechanical super-subcooling on R12 and R22 refrigeration plants with reciprocating compressors ; numerical simulation of phase change heat transfer during melting and resolidification of melt around two cylindrical heat exchangers ; experimental evaluation of heat transfer coefficients at a slow moving solid/liquid interface ; heat and mass transfer in porous media.
