Heating and cooling of the new Munich airport with waste heat.

Type of article: Article
Summary
The author presents the energy concept of this airport. Seven combined heating-power-plant units are to supply 11 megawatt electricity and 12 megawatt heating capacity ; their specifications are given. As for cooling, R11 turbo refrigerating machines were selected for the airport in 1986, when R22 was being criticized for its high pressure in the refrigerating circuit. They are to be replaced as soon as there are practical, environmentally friendly alternatives. Like the heating system, the refrigerating machines will be powered by motor waste heat.
