Summary

THE PAPER GIVES AN OUTLINE OF THE CHARACTERISTICS OF A HEATING TOWER SYSTEM. THE STRUCTURE OF HEATING TOWERS IS BASICALLY THE SAME AS THAT OF ORDINARY WATER COOLING TOWERS, ALTHOUGH SOME PARTS AND MATERIALS HAVE TO BE ADAPTED FOR THE USE OF NON-FREEZING SOLUTIONS. THE HEATING TOWER SYSTEM HAS SOME ADVANTAGES OF THE OTHER CONVENTIONAL SYSTEMS USING FINNED TUBE EXCHANGERS. IT CAN SAVE INSTALLATION SPACE AND ALSO FAN POWER, AND PERFORMANCE REDUCTION DUE TO FROST FORMATION IN WINTER AND DEFROSTING IS ESSENTIALLY AVOIDED.
