Type of article: Article

Summary

CALCULATIONS ARE PRESENTED FOR A CONSTANT-VOLUME GAS THERMOMETER USED AS AN INTERPOLATING INSTRUMENT BETWEEN FIXED POINTS IN THE RANGE 3.2-25 K AND USING HELIUM 3 AS A WORKING GAS. IN ADDITION TO THE ACCURACY OF THE FIXED POINT REALIZATIONS, IT IS SHOWN TO LIMIT THE ADDITIONAL INTERPOLATION UNCERTAINTY WITHIN 0.1 MILLIK, WITH A SUITABLE CHOICE OF DESIGN PARAMETERS. A STUDY ON THE DEPENDENCE OF THE UNCERTAINTY OF THE MAIN DESIGN PARAMETERS IS ALSO PRESENTED, WHICH SHOWS THAT THEIR CHOICE IS NOT CRITICAL.
