Summary

In industrial refrigerating plants, plant and pump characteristics, as well as sizing requirements, play important roles in the selection of forced circulation pumps. It is important to take into account plant characteristics and thermodynamic effects on suction in order to define minimal suction height. Nowadays, centrifugal pumps are preferred because of their total tightness and of the lack of maintenance required. Besides their small size, ease of installation, operational safety and low noise level, they also stand out in terms of their life expectancy.
