OVER THE YEARS THERE HAS BEEN A CONSTANT TENDENCY TO UPGRADE THE DESIGN OPERATING SPEED OF ROLLING PISTON ROTARY COMPRESSORS AND THIS HAS RESULTED IN HAVING TO RESOLVE CERTAIN PROBLEMS ASSOCIATED WITH HIGH SPEED OPERATION. THE ARTICLE ANALYSES FACTORS RELATING TO COMPRESSOR BEARING LOADS, IMPROVING THE COEFFICIENT OF PERFORMANCE, IMPROVING THE WEAR RESISTANCE OF MOVING PARTS AS SOME COMPONENTS ARE SUBJECTED TO SEVERE METAL-TO-METAL CONTACT AND REDUCING THE NOISE LEVEL OF THE MACHINE AS THIS IS AN IMPORTANT ASPECT WHEN A ROTARY COMPRESSOR IS DRIVEN BY AN INVERTER.
