HVAC SYSTEM NOISE CALCULATION PROCEDURE. AN UPDATE.
Author(s) : SESSLER S. M., ANGEVINE E. N.
Summary
AS PART OF THE ON-GOING EFFORT TO IMPROVE THE PROCEDURE FOR CALCULATING SYSTEM NOISE, THE SCOPE WILL BE BROADENED TO INCLUDE SUCH ITEMS AS SOUND TRANSMISSION THROUGH MECHANICAL ROOM WALLS AND SYSTEM NOISE TRANSMITTED BY RETURN AIR PATHS, BOTH DUCTED AND UNDUCTED. IT SHOULD BE MENTIONED THAT DESIGN AND LAYOUT OF SYSTEMS IN RESPONSE TO ACOUSTICAL CONSIDERATIONS IS BY FAR THE MOST EFFECTIVE NOISE CONTROL MEASURE AVAILABLE. THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN NOISE AND ENERGY IN AN AIR-HANDLING SYSTEM IS INSEPARABLE.
