Energy-efficient silencing of air moving devices with active noise control.
Author(s) : WISE S., DINEEN S., LEVENTHALL H. G.
Summary
Active noise control is increasingly being used to address low-frequency noise problems. This technology is being applied to the intake and discharge ducts of industrial fans and commercial air handlers. The outstanding advantage which has been recognized over conventional silencers is superior low-frequency attenuation with negligible flow restriction, hence, energy savings. Use of active noise control can show a payback of one to three years depending on the application. Examples are presented from a number of field installations.
