Ice fraction measurements in ice slurry flows through a vertical rectangular channel heated from one side.

Summary

Ice slurry flows and heat transfer experiments have been conducted to obtain ice fraction profiles in a vertical flow channel heated from one side. An on-line ice fraction measurement system was developed using a sampling probe and a heated section using calorimetric principles. The test rig is described. The aim of these tests is to investigate the behaviour of ice particles in the slurry flow, during melting. The behaviour of these ice particles is important for the heat transfer coefficient.
