Summary

THE NEW PREFERENTIAL TARIFFS FOR OFF-PEAK TIMES, ESPECIALLY IN SUMMER NIGHTS, ALLOWS THE DESIGNER TO PROPOSE AGAIN ICE STORAGE TO BE USED IN HIGH AND MEDIUM CAPACITY AIR CONDITIONING PLANT. THERE IS A THERMODYNAMIC DRAWBACK COMPARED TO REFRIGERATING COMPRESSORS, BUT IT IS COUNTERBALANCED BY THE ENERGETIC IMPROVEMENT OF THE PLANT. IN ADDITION, THE MORE ECONOMICAL ELECTRIC POWER RESULTS IN A SATISFACTORY PAYBACK OF POSSIBLY HIGHER INSTALLATION COSTS.
