Ice-storage-subcooling system for unitary air-conditioning.

Summary

A computer analysis of an ice-storage-subcooling system for a 15-ton (53 kW) air-conditioning unit is presented. The proposed system is capable of shifting 25-33% of the electrical load to off-peak hours. The system uses off-peak stored ice to subcool the liquid refrigerant exiting the condenser during peak cooling hours.
