Summary

THE INTEREST IN ICED WATER ACCUMULATION PLANT (THE ICE BANK) IS INCREASING AGAIN. THIS IS CAUSED BY THE FACT THAT AT CERTAIN PROCESSESMUCH HEAT MUST BE REMOVED IN A SHORT PERIOD, TO LIMIT THE PEAK LOAD CURRENT CONSUMPTION OR TO MAKE USE OF THE NIGHT TARIFF. THE REFRIGERATION QUALIFICATIONS OF THE EVAPORATOR AND THE DESIGN ARE DETERMINING THE SATISFACTORY FUNCTIONING OF THE ICE BANK. MUCH ATTENTION IS PAID TO THIS IN THE ARTICLE. A CALCULATION EXAMPLE IS WORKED OUT WITH AND WITHOUT THE LIMITATIONS IN THE RUNNING TIME OF THE COMPRESSOR. SOME OF THE ICE THICKNESS CONTROL SYSTEMS ARE EXPLAINED IN GREATER DEPTH.
