Summary
The main source of noise in an air-conditioner is the compressor. Therefore, noise reduction in a compressor is very important. Scroll compressors are now widely used, because due to less pulsation of gas pressure they are less noisy than rotary compressors. The paper presents analysis of the noise and vibration sources in a scroll compressor and presents a modification of top cap design in order to lower the noise level.
