Summary

Apple trees were subjected to normal irrigation (1), early deficit irrigation (2) and late deficit irrigation (3). Although yield per tree was lower for test (3) due to smaller fruits, tests (2) and (3) gave firmer fruits with higher density at harvest. Dry matter concentration was also higher. The quality was generally better for tests (2) and (3) than for test (1).
