Summary

This study experimentally and numerically examines the 3D effect on the performance of an open refrigerated display cases (ORDC). Three dimensional simulation model with model incorporating the buoyancy effect is carried out to compare with the results by 2D simulation model. The simulation also suggests that turbulence intensity cast a considerable influence on the performance of ORDC. On the other hand, setting the heat pipe onto the cabinet back panel to improve the ORDC's temperature uniformity. From the experimental result, heat pipe could let the temperature be decreased. The back panel at fifth shelf position did not have channel let cold air pass to. The temperature could 'be decreased 2.7°C.
