Summary

Experimental and computational methods are used to investigate temperature distribution in vertical direction of open vertical refrigerated display cabinets. Results show that the temperature difference is very large, the maximum temperature difference was over 9.0°C, the least was approximately 1.5°C, moreover, the difference of top and bottom floor was about 7.5°C, and the difference of the 2nd and 3rd floor was 5.2°C. The main reason is that gradual temperature increase of air curtain and the irrational distribution of back panel flow. Then 4 and 3 rows of pores formed back panel flow are added in bottom and the 2nd floor, respectively. The results are validated by experimental tests performed in accordance with the EN441 Standard.
