Summary

A TECHNOLOGY WAS DEVELOPED FOR LAYING COPPER ON THE FRICTION SURFACES OF THE COMPONENTS OF RECIPROCATING REFRIGERATING COMPRESSORS. TRIBOLOGICAL AND LIFETIME TESTS WERE MADE ON COMPRESSORS USING CFCS AND HAVING COPPER-COATED COMPONENTS. THE AUTHORS SHOW THE POSSIBILITY OF DECREASING THE MECHANICAL LOSSES DUE TO FRICTION AND WEAR, IN THE MAIN COMPONENTS. THE ANALYSIS OF THE RESULTS OBTAINED SHOWS THAT IT IS POSSIBLE TO INCREASE BY 30 % THE LIFETIME OF THE COMPRESSOR, THANKS TO THESE COPPER-COATED COMPONENTS, BECAUSE WEAR IS DECREASED DURING THE RUNNING-IN PERIOD.
