THE MEANS FOR IMPROVING THE MANUFACTURE OF 40 TO 80 KILOWATT RECIPROCATING COMPRESSORS WAS DETERMINED: INCREASING THE PISTON STROKE WITH A FIXED DIAMETER AND THE LIFT OF THE SUCTION AND DISCHARGE VALVE REEDS. THE RESULT OF THESE IMPROVEMENTS WAS A 15% INCREASE IN REFRIGERATING CAPACITY AND UP TO A 10% DECREASE IN THE AMOUNT OF METAL USED.
