Summary

IN ORDER TO DECREASE THE THERMAL STRESSES OF THE P110-2 COMPRESSOR THE AUTHOR RECOMMENDS COOLING THE LUBRICATING OIL PRIOR TO FEEDING IT TO THE COMPRESSOR. TO ACHIEVE THIS A COIL WAS FITTED INTO THE RETURN LINE FROM THE OIL SEPARATOR. IN SUMMER WHEN THE AMBIENT AIR TEMPERATURE REACHES 308 TO 313 K (35 TO 40 DEG C) AN OIL COOLER IS USED AND IT IS FITTED ABOVE THE FILTER IN THE OIL LINE FEEDING THE COMPRESSOR SHAFT SEL THE RESULT IS THAT THE OIL LOSS DECREASES AND THERE IS LESS WEAR IN THE MOVING PARTS OF THE MACHINE.
