In-duct cable thermohydraulics.

Thermohydraulique des câbles en conduit.

Author(s) : NICOLLET S.

Summary

In order to prepare the ITER-FEAT project, superconducting cable technology was developed for the construction of the toroidal field coil. This cable is cooled by the forced circulation of supercritical helium in two parallel regions: the annular area containing the strands and the central region circumscribed by an internal coil. Two codes, Gandalf and Flower (fortran/Crysoft), developed within the framework of the fusion-research programme, are now used by the Atomic Energy Commission in order to describe the coil's operation.
